My Christmas Duet With Mr. Fab

Note: You can hear the song at the end of this post, AFTER you read all of my disclaimers. *grin*

I was so enthralled by Zooey Deschanel's version of "Baby It's Cold Outside" from the movie "Elf" that I decided to enlist the help of my good friend Mr. Fabulous to create our own version of the song.

First of all, it's okay to laugh at me. I am by no means deluded enough to think I'm the next American Idol. But this was SO much fun to do!! I have been having so much fun and laughed so hard at myself. So feel free to laugh along with me. :)

Mr. Fab on the other hand is the king of karaoke and has had tons of practice. Natalie said he sounded like Johnny Bravo. *giggle* He will always be my go-to guy for duets (remember our last one? The one where you couldn't hear me because I didn't know about the "amplify" tool on audacity? Yeah that one.)

Now the karaoke version we selected for "Baby It's Cold Outside" was the one done by Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews. But I don't do high notes. So Zooey's version was out for me too.

And try as I might, I could not find a lower-note version of the song that fit my style from anyone else. Anne Murray was close, but I'm SO not an Anne Murray kind of girl.

So I had to make my own version which took tons and tons of practice. Trying to find the right lower key was SO hard! I still don't think I really mastered it, but I think I accomplished my goal of not scarring little children with my voice at least. :)

Now the ending? Impossible for me. No matter how many times I tried. But Brad, being the pro he is, was able to match my notes and I begged for him to sing really loud over me so no one would notice how bad it was, lol. Which he did (thanks, Brad!)

Another thing to keep in mind is that I have no idea how to edit my voice or the track, other than to amplify my voice (which I did this time) so that you can actually hear me over the music. I can't cut out bad parts and cut in good parts. So this is probably take #5,672. If everything sounded good and there was one part that was bad, I had to do a retake. I finally gave up and decided imperfection is fine with me, lol.

Are you ready? Here ya go...just click here! Woo!

Christmas Tree

I had an idea come to me that I believe in my heart was spiritually inspired. I won't get into the how's or why's, but I will share with you the gift I feel that my step-FIL wanted me create for my MIL.

As many of you know, I was by his side when he passed last year. It was one of the hardest moments of my life. I have felt connected to him more than ever since that time, though.

We all still feel his loss so deeply. Just the other day, Natalie said to me, "Mom. He said that they'd take me to the next race (he raced with his Ferrari). But I never got to go." That last race, he'd taken Amanda and Matthew but Natalie was too young. Hearing her say that broke my heart.

Then, I was going through old videos we have, and there was one of him kneeling down to help Matthew open one of his gifts several Christmases ago. He was SO excited for him, all animated and lively. He was so much fun. And wow did he love my kids. Like his own. Hearing his voice and seeing him again...it just felt like a punch in my stomach. It physically hurt.

On to the gift....my MIL recently sold her house after it being on the market for forever. The house she last lived in with him. She's now in a brand new condo.

We have a tree planted in our yard in memory of him. So the idea came to me (again, I believe it came from him...if I could explain how it came to me, you'd understand) to do a painting of the tree to give to her so she can have that to remember him by in her new home. A gift from him to her, though. Not from me.

So even though I was terrified to try to do the painting (I was so afraid of making it look horrible), I sat down last night and went to work. I sketched the tree from a photo I had. Then used my watercolors. This is what I ended up with:

(You can click to enlarge) Ignore the shadows on the glass.

It wasn't as awful as I was afraid it would be....I think I captured the tree fairly well.

I really can't wait to give it to her on Christmas Eve. I just wish he could be there with us instead.

Christmas Clips - Part One - Elf

In keeping with the Christmas mood here, I'm going to be posting clips from some of my favorite Christmas movies. Up today..."Elf." (hit "play" on that song above to hear the lovely voice of Zooey Deschanel from the movie....I could listen to that song all day)

Okay, ready to countdown my favorite moments? (feel free to skip ahead to #1 if you'd like because it totally rocks...but you will be missing out on the funny if you do. *grin*)

Here we go:

#8- The Escalator Ride (10 seconds) (actually one of the funniest parts of the movie for me, but this was the only clip I could find and the quality sucks)

#7- "Santa! I know him!" (1:01)

#6- Buddy discovers New York (1:04)

#5- "Did you hear that?" (18 seconds)

#4- Throne of Lies (1:48)

#3- "Baby It's Cold Outside" (1:38) (Will Ferrell singing with Zooey...isn't she amazing?!)

#2 "Buddy the Elf! What's your favorite color?" (1:25) (scroll to the end to hear the clip...this was the best I could do and definitely wanted it included since it's been our Christmas answering machine greeting for awhile)

#1- The Tree Scene (18 seconds)

We still rewind and watch this part over and over.

So what's *your* favorite color part?

Guess Who's Going to Britney Spears' Circus Tour?

Update: Click here to see the brand new video of "Circus" which is AMAZING. It just premiered on "Entertainment Tonight" this past week and embedding is disabled or I'd put it on here for you to see. It's worth the click over (at least to me, but then I am biased, lol).
************************************************************

Yes, uh huh. ME, ME, ME! And my daughter. I read an announcement that Brit was making her comeback with a tour, so I went to her website and found a special offer to get tickets before they go "public." (Click here if you want to get in on the offer)

Ticketmaster tried their best to keep me from scoring tickets, but I would not give up and spent the better part of an hour trying to get tickets. And kept watching the good seats go to someone else each time. So our seats are crappy, but I'd watch from the roof if I had to! This tour is going to be HOT!

And as if it couldn't get any better THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS will be performing with her!!! Perfection!

If you haven't caught Brit performing her two latest songs off of the Circus CD, here's the YouTube videos for them. I already loved, "Womanizer," and I love "Circus" even more. If the tour is anything like these videos it is going to be amazing!!

Womanizer on X-Factor:

Circus on Good Morning America:

I could not be more excited!!

Totally 80's

My old friend from high school found this picture and sent it to me on Facebook yesterday:

I am still doubled over laughing over my 80's hair and the pink, ruffly homecoming dress. If I remember correctly, my date for that dance was a guy that I just reconnected with on Facebook as well.

One of my friends on Twitter sent out a message with his name in it and I was so stunned! Turned out to be him and we've talked here and there.

Now, I've been reconnecting with a lot of people from that time. So much fun, even if I don't have the best of memories from my school years.

By the way, I clearly remember that "Walk Like An Egyptian" was nearly impossible to dance to. At least for me. The beat is way too fast to pull off any sort of cool dance moves. :)

The 30 Rock Skit - I Love Kenneth the Page

Kapgar and I have been scheming on a 30 Rock skit that, if the producers at NBC had any smarts, would become a real story line (with us in the starring roles of course.)

I'm titling it "I Love Kenneth the Page." Or alternately, "Obsession."

Let's cue the music before we go any further:

Okay, on to the story. It goes something like this:

Kevin and I are new pages under Kenneth's "tutelage" as Kevin put it. (that word makes me giggle). I immediately fall in love with Kenneth the Page. I mean what's not to love about this guy:

At first, Kenneth is really happy to see me each day:

He even takes me out to a party after work on the set of TGS (work with me on the photo editing here, lol):

But my crush on him turns into a crazy, stalker-type obsession and he begins to get a little worried:

Suddenly, wherever he goes, I follow. He tries to keep that beautiful smile of his on even though he's totally creeped out. Elevator rides are the worst, as I'm almost always on there with him:

The crazier I get, the more Kenneth is turned off. But there's someone who actually loves my craziness. My new fellow page-in-training Kevin:

The crazier I get, the more Kevin wants me. But my heart is set on winning over Kenneth, so I resort to all sorts of tricks to get his attention. Like leaving a present for him in his office:

The final straw for Kenneth comes when I pop up on the stage from the audience of Late Night With Conan O'Brian in the middle of his interview:

It's also the final straw for Kevin, who realizes the only way to win my heart is to plot Kenneth's demise. Unfortunately for Kevin, the authorities get wind of his plot and promptly arrest him before he can carry it out:

But then Kenneth reports me and I too am arrested:

And Kenneth is finally free of the both of us. He demands that he gets the final approval of all new pages from then on out.

As for me and Kevin...well, not even jail could stop our obsessions. We were content to live them out through our cells.

My cell:

Kevin's cell:

The end! *bow* *bow* *bow*

Be prepared to see both me and Kevin on 30 Rock with our brilliant skit any day now. :)

When Puppies Misbehave

What do you get when you cross one green, unattended bath crayon with a mischievous white puppy? This:

Unfortunately, using the "You'll just have to stay that way now! You think about what you did when everyone sees you looking this way!" tactic doesn't work well on a dog.

Update: Amanda told me this would make a perfect LOL Dog so I went in and made one:

Thanks to my gorgeous and dear friend Jane for giving me the "I Love Your Blog" award!!! This is the second time I've been blessed with this award and I'm just as excited as I was the first time around. You can never have too much blog love, IMO.

Click here to see my post in which I passed this on before if you missed it.

Thank you, Jane. I totally <3 you!

You Love Me! You Really Love Me!

Note: I'm a "dj" (ha!) on Blip.fm now so I'm going to put a song on each of my posts for your enjoyment. You can play it, then read. Or not. You can also head on over to my profile and favorite me and listen to my tunes if you'd like. Enjoy!

Isn't that a pretty award? Kapgar gave it to me today. (thank you, K! *kiss*)

I am usually bad about reciprocating these (I think I owe Dutchy and B a LONG overdue thank you for awards they've given me in the past). But since I've been super busy and could use some blog post fodder, I jumped on in here tonight to post this one.

If you've known me for awhile, you know how nervous these things make me. Not the receiving. I'm good at that. It's the giving. Because I don't want anyone to feel left out. I love ALL of your blogs! I really do!

But I have to pick just seven and this in no way means I love those of you I don't pick any less. Honest. Oh and I'm leaving out those who've already been nominated (which is a TON of my friends...including Sybil and Whall who K stole from me *grin*)

So here goes....the rules:
  • The winner can put the logo on his/her blog.
  • Link the person you received your award from.
  • Nominate at least seven other blogs
  • Put links of those blogs on yours.
  • Leave a message on the blogs that you’ve nominated.

And now for the "seven":

~B from Dreaming in the Dark
~Poppy from Poppy Cedes
~~John- from Buddha on the Road
~Dutchy from The Dutch Files
~BermudaBluez
~Pamela from The Dust Will Wait
~Season from Destination....Me!
~Tug from Just Tug
~Michelle from That Girl
~Letera from Life is a Constant Change
~Dapoppins

That's seven right? *batting eyelashes* I am blonde, sooo.... :)

The Jonas Brothers Concert - Nissan Pavillion

Wow. Are The Jonas Brothers going to be the next Beatles? Because judging from their record sales, press, fans, etc., it sure seems like it.

Monday night, I made the normally half-hour drive to the Nissan Pavilion to see The Jonas Brothers Burning Up Tour with Matthew, Natalie and Matthew's friend, courtesy of Mom Central (whom I won the tickets from....thanks again Mom Central!). Tickets that were selling for over $470 PER TICKET because we had first-tier, premium seats and the concert was sold out. Can you imagine????

But bringing the kids there was priceless. First of all, the half-hour drive was two hours. Over an hour was spent going a half mile to the pavilion. And in that hour, tons of teeny bopper girls passed our van.

It was so hilarious watching Matthew and his friend with these girls. "Dude, check out the Acura on the right." "The blonde is mine!" hahahahaha!

But the girls were actually waving to them and blowing kisses! I think that was almost as much fun as the concert for them. It certainly entertained me as I was trapped in the hell of concert traffic.

I should've trusted my friend John and brought my camera. But I had visions of having to trudge back to my van to return it if they turned me away (they were taking everyone's signs and trashing them as it was). Turns out, though, that just about everyone (except me) had a camera.

So I was left with a cell phone that was on low battery. This is as good as it gets guys:

This was only about 1/4 of the crowd and didn't include the orchestra section in front of us. Look how far back it stretches to the lawn. Unreal. SO many people were packed in there. Imagine them all leaving at once. Yeah, not good.

Forgive my sorry attempt to edit this to protect the identity of Matthew's friend.

This photo does not do our position justice. We were in the first tier and we could see them SO well. It was incredible!

Then I got this sucky video. Cell phones don't take video very well. All of the lights just blurred. But here it is nonetheless:

That guy to the very left of the stage is a stageguy and the person directly to the right of him is Joe Jonas. They talked to each other right in the middle of the song and Joe nodded his head at him like, "Oh, okay...sure." I have no idea what was going on but it piqued my curiosity.

Here's a MUCH better video of the opening which was beyond awesome...you had to be there to really appreciate the special effects, especially all the pyro stuff:

Different place and date, but the same thing (I couldn't find a good one of the opening at our venue). There was also a point where they were each raised WAY into the air on these tiny pedastals which was way cool. Big Rob came out and totally rocked and they also brought out the Bonus Jonas...their little brother Frankie (who was beyond adorable).

Another favorite point of mine was when Joe walked down the center stage and every time he threw his hand out, the fire would burst in the background as if he was controlling it. Probably had to be there to appreciate that one. :) Oh, and they foamed the entire orchestra section with these big hose gun thingies.

One girl actually left and sat on a wall to comb her her out. Silly girl. Where's the fun in that?

There was a HUGE wait between Demi Lovato's opening act (she was really good too) and the start of the Jonas Brothers. Close to an hour. I still wonder if something was up because that seemed ridiculously long.

Then leaving? More hell on earth. We stood still...literally no movement, for over a half hour in the parking lot. And I had a killer headache at that point with no medicine.

Then, some genius decided he'd rather be in my lane and scraped his SUV up against the side of my van, then looked at me like I was an idiot. I rolled down my window and said, "Dude! What the hell are you doing??" But he just kept giving me the weird look.

Concert was done at ten to eleven and we got home at 12:30....gah! But it was worth it in the end. My kids were on cloud nine (still are) and Matthew's friend's mom told me her son was the envy of his siblings and friends. I was so happy to be able to give that to all of them!

There Goes My Life...

Note: Be sure to scroll down one post if you missed Matthew's birthday. I usually let a post like that sit for a couple of days, but I definitely had to put this up for Amanda

Today, Amanda heads for her new life at college. But it feels like just yesterday that she was born...

Just yesterday that I pinched those adorable cheeks...

Just yesterday that she had her first birthday cake...

Just yesterday when she still fit into her daddy's arms:

Just yesterday when she went through the tween stage:

Just yesterday when she thought thumbs up was the coolest thing you could do:

Yesterday went by so fast...

And now she's ready to spread her wings and fly...

Out of all the posts I've ever written, this is one of the most meaningful ones to me. So I ask you to indulge me a bit and share two songs with me that mean so very much at this time.

We'll never forget to remember you, Amanda....

(we really will be loading a Chevy today as we pack her up...weird....and I wish I could've made my own video with pictures of Amanda to the lyrics but I don't know how).

I couldn't find an embed code for the second song. So I couldn't post it here. But it would mean SO very much to me if you could click here and watch this video too. So much. It's incredibly moving. I promise you won't be disappointed.

That video could be our life story. It's eerily accurate since Rob and I were so young when we had Amanda. We were told we ruined our lives, that our future was over.

This video explains perfectly what it was like at that time and what it's like for us today as we send her off to college. One of the hardest days of my entire life.

"There goes our life. There goes our future, our everything. We love you. Goodbye."

SO True! - Comedienne Anjelah Johnson on Nail Salons

If you've ever had a manicure or a pedicure in a nail salon, then you are going to die laughing when you see this video. And if you haven't had either, then it'll give you a glimpse into what it's like, convo wise. I couldn't believe how much she nailed (ha!) it.

This girl, Anjelah Johnson is hilarious!!! I was so happy I found the clip on YouTube so I could show you all (I first saw it on Real Player and actually recorded it with my camera and was going to post it myself...that's how funny it was).

There's an uncut version of her stand-up routine there too. Just search her name on YouTube and you'll see it.

Me, The Bombsell

Hahahahahahaha!!!! Okay, I am going to try to stop laughing hard enough to write this post.

I got a hit on my SiteMeter today that has me doubled over with laughter.

Do this: go to google and type in "blonde bombsell blogger" Yes, "bombsell" without the "h."

Yes, I am second and third, under Pamela Anderson. Apparently, I sell bombs, but I am not an actual bombSHELL, because if you put that into google, I'm nowhwere to be found.

I should make that my new middle name. Blonde "Bombsell" Blogger. :)

BTW: Haloscan is wigging out. If you've left a Haloscan comment, I can't see it or respond to it here. I see them on the Haloscan site, though, so they're still there. I'm sure they'll work it out soon and I'll respond as soon as they do. Sorry!

I HEART My New Sweater

I happened upon a sweater the other day that is in my absolute favorite color to wear...well second to black. Coral. I had to have it. And I paired it with black which I love even more. It's a lightweight, summery sweater and I wish I could wear it every day.

THEN, the fashion gods were smiling down on me because I just happened to have a lipstick already that matched it perfectly. I was so excited that I decided to snap a couple of photos (I figured I needed a new profile pic anyhow):

So now one pic is on my blog page, and one is in my profile (because I can't decide which one I like best).

I also added some more of my favorite songs to my Playlist in my sidebar (you have to click on "pop out player to see all the songs...I have to work on fixing that). Does anyone ever listen to others' Playlists? Or am I the only one listening to mine? I'm guessing it's the latter.

I almost want to start my own radio show just so I can open with "Maneater" by Nelly Furtado and close with "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" by Cake. Or maybe "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stafani. Or, or....ugh..I love them all! But that's a good reason to start a radio show, right? :)

Finally, I am dying for someone to come debate Obama's stance on Iraq over at my political blog. Any takers? I promise I debate nicely. I really do! And I don't judge others for their beliefs so I will love you just as much even if you don't agree with me....which I know in blogland is just about everyone.

Oh, and if you missed it over the weekend, make sure you check out "Penis Power" in the post below. Worth. Every. Minute.

Reality Roundup

First of all, so far so good on the stomach virus. No one else has come down with it. But, Amanda came down with a cold/flu virus Monday night and had trouble breathing with a fever of 103. *sigh* Now that one Natalie can definitely not get because it will be a guaranteed hospital trip. Fingers crossed. Prayers upward.

Anyone watching "The Mole?" I have a theory. I keep seeing references to the number 10 in most of the shows. And Clay is the tenth person they show in the intro. So while I feel like Mark is the mole, if my theory is correct, it will actually be Clay. He's my favorite player too so I hope I'm right about it.

What I can't stand about that show, though, is the host's voice. Way. Too. Much. It's been so bad I've wanted to mute the t.v.

I am DYING for "Big Brother 10" to start! I can't get enough of all the pre-show hoopla. My favorite site being this one.

I've been spending way too much time watching the videos and getting the inside scoop on all the house guests, but I am working while I do it, which may or may not be a good thing. And I'm *this close* to purchasing the 24/7 feeds (I know, I know...but I REALLY love this show).

I'm sad "The Bachelorette" is over, but I must say I did not particularly like Deanna. I think she seemed a little too snooty and full of herself, just like she did when she was on "The Bachelor."

And I feel SO sorry for Jason who was my pick for her. She dragged that poor man along to the very end, which means he spent the most time away from his son as possible. Ugh!

I do like Jesse though. I just wonder how long someone as sweet and carefree as he is will last with someone like her. Any bets?

Update: Check out the website Deanna and Jesse set up. Pretty cool! They do look really cute together.

Christian the Lion

Note: Got the camera back and it was all non-embarrassing stuff. Good for me, but boring for you all, I know. :)

On another note, check out my new playlist in my sidebar. I had to cut the width so the only way to scroll through the songs is to hit the forward/back buttons, or click on "pop-out player." As if anyone is going to listen to it but me, heh.

I've been meaning to blog this for awhile now, and I did send it around Facebook. And Poppy posted it as well. But just in case you haven't seen it, I wanted to post it here because it's that good.

Seriously. If you ever watch one YouTube video in your life, it should be this one. You will sob hysterically, but it's a happy kind of cry. I have watched it a million times and still can't do it without crying loudly.

Like Poppy, I dare you to watch it without crying! I bet you can't.

Did you notice how the lion's jaw drops when he recognizes the two guys? He has a look like, "Oh my gosh! It's you!" That face gets me every time. *sob*

Thanks to John who posted this at the CASPCA blog, which is how I found it.

Human Garden

Convo between Matthew and me when we came upon a butterfly garden:

Me: "You can plant specific flowers that will attract butterflies to the garden. Isn't that cool?

Matthew: "Yeah. And butterflies probably say to each other, 'You can make a human garden if you build a Starbucks.'"

Hahahahahaha!!! So true!

Le Artiste

I have no idea if I really typed a French phrase for my title or not, but it sounded good. :) Anyway, Natalie's been in art camp this week and is learning how to paint with watercolors. So I've been driving there and back every day this week (except for Tuesday, when I had to drive to Maryland and back). Drive, drive, drive...blah.

But, the classes are in the country and the drive is GORGEOUS! This picture does not even come close to doing it justice, but you'll get the idea:

The mountain that you can't really see in the back is breathtaking. It's just such a peaceful, tranquil place.

I stayed for the first class and listened to the different techniques closely. Then I decided to brush up on my own watercolor painting and used this for my inspiration:

And came up with this:

I blurred out my last name on the photo, so that's why there's a weird blue at the bottom. And those three blue dots to the left that look like a Picachu (sp?) face annoy the crap out of me. I tried wetting them out of there but it just faded the area around them.

Natalie's teacher thought it was fine and didn't need to be removed but she's probably just being nice to me. :)

There's a long story behind the meaning of the swan to our family after the loss of my uncle, but I am going to give this to my mom since we all think of him whenever we see one.

Now if I only had the time to study up and practice more. When my kids are grown, I want my own studio and I want to take dozens of classes. And my dream come true would be to have ONE piece in an art show.

My sister is an art major and her drawings/paintings have won numerous awards. She's now into glass blowing, though and made this vase for me for my birthday:

And she wrapped it in this paper that she painted herself:

So the desire to create obviously runs in the family, which is why I enrolled Natalie in these classes in the first place.

And finally a shameless plug, for my other artwork. Check out my Etsy widget in my sidebar to see the personalized children's wall art I sell at my store. The three on "display" are the ones I created for Natalie's room.

I've had zero time to promote my store so I have yet to sell a piece. At least I'm telling myself that's the reason. :)

We Miss You Puppy Monster

It's days like this that make all of the blog drama seem so senseless. Today is the one year anniversary of the loss of a very special little boy, NYC Watchdog's son.

Please head over and show him your love and support. Today, I will be counting my blessings and remembering a smile that was etched on my heart forever one year ago today.

AP Coverage of My Video

The AP is covering my video now!! I'm not the star of the story but still. :)

This particular news story is spreading all over the Internet (AOL and such) since it's AP. And in all the places I'm finding it on the net, it features my footage as the main still picture. Here's the video:

Mine is the "amateur video" they're referring to just after they show my footage. The footage following mine is just a storm front taken from ABC 7's helicopter.

The video is getting passed all around my neighborhood and I'm getting tons of emails. Are you sick of me talking about it all yet? LOL

I Love Emily Leatherman

Thank you Emily Leatherman, for being a famous crazy stalker and for doing this to my blog stats:
  • Total 43,583
  • Average Per Day 105
  • Average Visit Length 1:37
  • Last Hour 360
  • Today 1,003
  • This Week 736
And it's only 1 in the afternoon my time.

Emily decided to jump in the spotlight again, and since I'm the #1 Google result for Ms. Crazy, beating out TMZ, CBS, The Washington Post, etc., my stats are skyrocketing. Booo yeah!!!! Think I'll make it to 2,000 by tonight?

Okay, so speaking of crazy, here are all of the delirious fantasies running through my head, especially after seeing this blogger comment that was left for me:

"How much can I pay The Blonde Blogger to stalk me?"
*blush* Thank you anonymous, whoever you are. I think I love you!

So after my head swelled from the hits, then swelled some more from the comment, I started daydreaming. What if? What if some celebrity person stumbles on my site? What if it's a movie producer, modeling agent (I'm a former model by the way, ahem), talent scout, TMZ person (I'm a writer and celebrity-lover, ahem), or some other fantastic, never-really-going-to-come-by-here person comes by here?

They see my post, think I'm gorgeous and funny, and they offer me a role on a show? Or invite me to a Hollywood party? Or...or...or....I don't know.....some other never-really-going-to-happen-in-a-million-years scenario?

Maybe Brad Pitt will see this and decide that Angie just wasn't the right one for him and he'll start stalking me. I'll have to let him down gently because I am in love with my husband, and I'll forever be known as the "girl who stole Brad from Angie," (and I'll do it all for Team Jen!)

I bet Emily's looking a little less crazy with each word I write, huh? *grin*

Pee Ess: My daughter wants to be noticed to, so I promised to add this for her. She's getting a new site design today, so forgive her if her site is a little wonky. Let it be known that she is also open to all offers for fame. :)

This and That

~Sophie now thinks her name is "Awww!" We say it so many times around her (because she's always doing something cute) that she now responds to "Awww" more than she does to "Sophie."

~Once again, despite the fact that I live 10-15 minutes from a huge, international airport (Dulles), I have to drive Amanda all the way to BWI instead in order for her to fly to my mom's for a visit. My mom lives in Virginia Beach so it's only a 20 minute flight. If we want her to fly out of Dulles, the cost will be in the $400's. Versus $100 something from BWI. Which really sucks because it is going to be a loooooong drive.

~My Tivo has failed to record the last FOUR...count 'em....FOUR episodes of Big Brother. How do I live after something like that? And I'm on dial-up, so I can't go to CBS to see the shows. The first time, it aired at around 1 in the morning because of basketball (bleh). But it actually aired at like 1:55 so I only got five minutes of it.

Then, it didn't record three shows and I thought it was because it wasn't on. I thought that they were taking a break while basketball was on. Only my husband informed me that there were no games the days that it aired. Crap.

So I made sure it was taping this Sunday. I saw the little red record light on my Playlist along with the name "Big Brother" and thought all was well. Until I went to watch it. And the first 30 minutes was "60 minutes"(ha!). So I settled in to watch the first half of the show for the last thirty minutes of the taping (are you following me?).

But, about five minutes into that, despite the fact there was no rain or wind or any other possible cause, our satellite went crazy and it was all garbled and broken up. I couldn't hear or see anything at all for the entire thirty minutes.

I will go insane if it does not record it tommorrow. And to have missed four episodes of my favorite show? Totally sucks!!!!

~That is the cutest baby ever, little Miss Emma, whose mommy is my best friend from middle school, Shannon. Shannon is the first "real life" friend I've told about this blog (just recently).

~Almost every reality show this season has my kids' names on them: Matthew, Natalie and Amanda. Big Brother has all three, Surivor has Amanda and Natalie, and The Bachelor is Matt with two Amandas vying for his affection. Weird!

I'm Now Officially a Bunny Murderer

We made it to my MIL's for dinner this evening and we had a wonderful time. We watched a home video of the kids when they were little and "Mark" was on them. It was bittersweet. It was so good to hear his voice, but so hard at the same time.

So on the drive home, I was already feeling a little down. Suddenly, a sweet, little bunny jumped out in front of my van. I tried to swerve one way just at the same time the bunny tried to dodge my van. Meaning we both went the same way.

And. I. Killed. The. Bunny. I ran right over him and you could hear him hit the bottom of my van.

On. Easter.

Who kills a friggin bunny rabbit on Easter?!!!!! I feel like I killed the Easter bunny.

I've never hit an animal on the road before. I've always been able to swerve and avoid them. But not this time. Of all times.

I sobbed hysterically all the way home while my husband tried to convince me that "maybe he survived it somehow" which only gave me visions of him wounded and suffering in the woods somewhere.

I wanted to go back and find him and hug him and tell him I'm sorry and bury him. But my family wouldn't let me, which is probably a good thing, because only a crazy person would do that. But I felt SO awful. And I can't stop thinking about the poor, little guy. :(

Happy Easter!

To all my friends who celebrate, a happy Easter to you!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. - 1 Peter 1:3
